Description
Afriq Water Vegetable Farmer’s Kit Dripline Irrigation
Drip Irrigation is water-wise and easy to use! Drip Irrigation doesn’t waste precious water resources, with the perfect amount of water delivered right to the root-zone of your crop, at precisely the right time.
What are the benefits of dripline?
- Empty patches of land aren’t needlessly irrigated.
- Water irrigated via drip won’t evaporate as quickly as that of a sprinkler system, as it’s slowly emitted and water can be absorbed into the ground.
- Water shortages and drought won’t impact your crop as much as depending on sprinkler irrigation would.
- It’s a sustainable method of irrigation, that doesn’t waste water.
- Proudly manufactured in South Africa for durability and affordability.
Disposable dripline irrigation is ideal for:
- Hard water/lime water (if you boil a kettle and white build-up stays behind, you have lime in your water), as lime will clog dripline emitters beyond repair after only a few months, even if the pipe lasts years longer.
- People who want to start farming/are just starting out farming, as it’s a lower cost for more meters to start with.
- Farming on open fields (direct sunlight will impact longevity negatively.
- Fields under mulching (mulching should not be fine like soil, rather use mulching like plastics, coarse bark, hay, etc. Fine granules can clog emitter holes)
Afriq Water’s Farmer’s Kit includes the fittings required to make 50 lateral lines of dripline:
- Includes 1 x 20mm Filter (specs to follow)
- Includes 1 x Perforation Tool, used to easily punch a hole into the LDPE mainline (40mm Diameter pipe recommended).
- Includes 50 x Sealing Rubbers, used to seal the connection between the mainline and the Off-Take Connector. Always purchase equal amounts of Sealing Rubbers and Off-Take Connectors. Rubbers are pushed into the hole that was created using the Perforation Tool.
- Includes 50 x Off-Take Connectors with Ring that connects dripline and mainline together. Inserted into the Sealing Rubber, with dripline pushed into place over the fitting to connect the dripline line and mainline.
- Includes 10 x Couplings with Ring used to mend/join two pieces of dripline that have been cut or damaged. Dripline lines or pieces are pushed over both sides of the fitting and fastened as needed.
- Includes 50 x End Plugs with Ring used to end a line of dripline tightly for a leak-free seal. Dripline is pushed over fitting and fastened as needed.
Why does the drip tape need fittings with rings?
Ring Fittings are used for 0.15 mm, 0.20 mm & 0.30mm Wall Thickness, as these Wall Thicknesses are too thin for nut or barbed dripline fittings to work.
Farmer’s Kit Filter Technical Specifications:
- 20mm Diameter Inlet/Outlet
- 6m³ p/h Flow
- Disc cartridge – good at removing particulates like sand and organic matter. A disc filter consists of a stack of round discs. The discs have minuscule spaces between them when stacked together. The water is forced between the spaces between the discs, and the particulates are filtered out because they won’t fit through these gaps. The organics are snagged in between the discs.
- 172,25cm² Filtration surface
What’s not included in the Farmer’s Kit:
- Mainline and mainline fittings (we recommend a 40mm Diameter LDPE pipe for a mainline, and end-plugs for your LDPE, as well as elbows and T’s as required by your layout/design)
- Specialised dripline fittings (such as control valves, elbows, t-pieces, etc., available online)
- 20mm Adaptors for filter – requires 2 female adaptors threaded on one side, and (depending on design) a LDPE adaptor on the other side
Before installing:
Ensure your water pressure is MIN 0.6 BAR and MAX 1.0 BAR
